wHAT IS THE rED lETTER cHALLLENGE?

The Red Letter Challenge is a 40-day discipleship journey designed to help people live more intentionally as followers of Jesus. The challenge is built around the red letters of the Bible—the words spoken directly by Jesus—and invites participants to take His teachings seriously by putting them into action.

During the season of Lent, we are taking on this challenge together as a church family. As we prepare our hearts for Easter, this shared journey gives us the opportunity to slow down, listen closely to Jesus, and reflect on how His words shape our daily lives.

The Red Letter Challenge is not about perfection or checking boxes. It’s about growing in faith together, deepening our relationship with Christ, and learning how His words shape how we love God and serve others. Throughout Lent, small groups across our church are focusing on this study, and we strongly encourage you to join one of these groups to walk through the challenge alongside others—sharing conversation, encouragement, and prayer along the way.

Wherever you are in your faith journey, there is a place for you, and we’d love for you to be part of this season with us.

The Five Targets of the Red Letter Challenge

The Red Letter Challenge is not about perfection or checking boxes. It’s about growing in faith together,
deepening our relationship with Christ, and learning how His words shape how we love God and serve others.

Target 1 - Being

The Red Letter Challenge begins with Being, because following Jesus starts with relationship. Before Jesus calls us to do anything for Him, He calls us to be with Him. This target focuses on spending intentional time with God through prayer, Scripture, silence, and reflection. Being reminds us that our identity is rooted in Christ—not in our busyness, productivity, or performance. As we slow down and listen to Jesus’ words, we learn to trust Him more deeply and allow His presence to shape every part of our lives.

Dates of Focus: February 22-28

Target 2: Forgiving

Forgiving centers on Jesus’ call to extend grace the same way we have received it. Forgiveness is not easy, and it does not ignore hurt or injustice—but it does free us from carrying the weight of bitterness and resentment. This target challenges participants to honestly examine their relationships, confront unresolved wounds, and take steps toward forgiveness and reconciliation. By forgiving others, we reflect the mercy of Christ and open our hearts to healing, peace, and restoration.

Dates of Focus: March 1-7

Target 3: Serving

Serving invites us to follow Jesus’ example of humble, self-giving love. Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve—and He calls His followers to do the same. This target encourages participants to look beyond themselves and intentionally meet the needs of others, both inside and outside the church. Whether through simple acts of kindness or organized service opportunities, Serving helps us recognize that even small acts, done in love, can have a lasting impact.

Dates of Focus: March 8-14

Target 4: Giving

Giving focuses on living with open hands and generous hearts. Jesus speaks often about money, possessions, and trust, reminding us that what we cling to can easily become what controls us. This target challenges participants to examine how they use their resources—time, talents, and finances—and to practice generosity as an act of faith. Giving is not about obligation, but about joyfully trusting God to provide and using what we have to bless others and support His work in the world.

Dates of Focus: March 15-21

Target 5: Going

Going calls us to live out our faith beyond church walls. Jesus sends His followers into the world to share His love, hope, and truth—not just with words, but through everyday actions. This target encourages participants to step outside their comfort zones, build intentional relationships, and look for opportunities to invite others into life with Christ. Going reminds us that discipleship is not meant to stay private; it is meant to be lived and shared wherever God places us.
