Christ Lutheran Church and School is blessed with an amazing Pastoral Team!
Pastor Eric Clausen was born in 1988 in Boise, Idaho. Eric was raised going to a Lutheran Church by his parents Ken and Wendy, with his siblings Daniel and Katie.
Pastor Bob Cutler, Eric's pastor in middle school, planted the idea of Eric one day being in the ministry, and the recommendation stuck. He was ordained and installed as an Assistant Pastor at Christ Lutheran Church, Brea, California on July 31, 2016, and now serves as one of two co-pastors.
He graduated from Concordia University, Irvine in 2010 where he majored in History with a minor in Biblical Languages. From there, he went to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, where he earned his Masters of Divinity in May of 2015, and his Sacred Theology Masters in 2018.
While at Concordia, Irvine, Eric met his future wife Hannah, whom he dated throughout his time in seminary, despite them being almost 2,000 miles away from each other. They married in 2016, and are expecting their first child!
Eric finds passion in teaching church history and showing how the lives of Christians before us have shaped who we are today. He hosts a podcast called, "The Faithful Forebearers" which is available on both Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts.
Eric's interests are his wife Hannah, family, hiking & running, reading, motorcycles, listening to podcasts, gardening, and Ultimate Frisbee.
Pastor Patrick (Pat) Hauser was born in Culver City, California to his parents H.J. (Herb) and Betty Jean. His father was a contractor specializing in paint and wallpaper who worked well into his 80s, while his mother was a homemaker who took pride in being home every day with all four of her kids - an amazing gift which her all of her children are still grateful for.
Pat was raised in the Roman Catholic Church, receiving First Communion and being confirmed at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church in Venice, California.
Pat served at Christ Lutheran as both an Elder and a licensed and commissioned lay Deacon for many years before the Holy Spirit placed upon his heart the call to enter the pastoral ministry. He served his vicarage at Christ Lutheran, and was installed as a Specific Ministry Pastor (SMP) in July of 2018. His specific ministry is for adult education and instruction. Christ Lutheran is also blessed to have him serve in many other aspects of the pastoral ministry, including preaching, counseling, visitation, and working with various committees of committed lay people.
Campus ministry is important to Pat as well, having taught a Bible Study at East Los Angeles College for the last several years.
To his credit, Pat has a Bachelor of Arts in Physiology of Exercise from California State University, Northridge (1990), a Master of Science degree in Public Services Administration from Cal State University, Long Beach (2004), and a Pastoral Ministry Certificate from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri (2018).
Pastor Pat's pastoral ministry is a third career for him. Previously, Pat was a Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County before beginning a teaching career at East Los Angeles, where he has served as a Professor since 1999 and also serves as a department chair.
Pat met the love of his life, Michelle, while they were working patrol together at Carson Sheriff's Station. They have been blissfully, happily married since April of 1992. They are blessed with five amazing children: Tim, Amber, Samantha, Joseph, and Alexa, and they also are blessed to have 2 grand children! They are also the parents to three cats, two tortoises, and two dogs.
Pat's favorite bible passage is Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"
