Director of Christian Education (DCE) David Johnson announced on October 29th, 2023, that he has accepted a call to Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Kernersville, North Carolina. David read the following Letter:
"Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I want to thank you all for your prayers and support during this time of deliberation. The third chapter of Ecclesiastes reminds us of an unchanging truth, 'For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under Heaven'. For eleven years I've been called by God to serve as DCE here at Christ Lutheran Church. Not only have I felt called by God to serve here, but I have also greatly enjoyed the privilege of serving this wonderful community of faith. Life, however, is never static; change is inevitable. God continually calls us to new challenges, opportunities, and adventures.
On October 8th Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Kernersville, North Carolina extended me a divine call to serve as their Director of Family Life Ministries. After much prayer and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to accept the call to serve at Fountain of Life.
As you know, discerning God's call upon one's life is a difficult process, but after meeting with the people at Fountain of Life, learning about their church and where God is leading them, I feel that my gifts for ministry may serve them well.
I do believe God is calling me into mission with them and their next chapter of ministry. I know I will be able to share with them the love and grace that has been imparted to me through my time at Christ Lutheran Church. As we prepare to embark on this new chapter of life I want to assure you that my departure does not diminish the love and gratitude I have for each one of you.
It is impossible to express how grateful I am to God for the privilege and pleasure of serving as your DCE. I believe God has truly blessed our ministry together. Ashley, Micah, and I have been richly blessed through the loving, nurturing, and supportive community here at Christ Lutheran. The relationships we have formed have enriched our lives and allowed us to love and be loved in the most profound ways. Thank you for embracing us into your church family. Thank you for eleven years of serving, laughing, loving, and doing ministry together. We will miss you dearly and continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers.
I ask for your prayers and support as we begin this new journey, knowing God has great things in store for us all. May God's grace continue to guide and bless each one of you, filling your lives with joy, peace, and unwaivering faith.
In Christ,
David Johnson"
We praise God for the eleven years of ministry that David has served Christ Lutheran Church and School, and pray for God's richest blessings upon he, Ashley, Micah, and their unborn child as they begin this new chapter of their lives.
