OUR STORY

In the fall of 1960, six families began the journey of forming a mission congregation in the Brea/Fullerton area. The first service of Christ Lutheran Church was held on March 6, 1961, at the Wilson School of Dance on the corner of Catalpa Avenue and Oleander Street in Brea.

After a three-year search for a permanent home, approximately five acres at Imperial Highway and Arovista Avenue became available.

On May 3, 1964, more than 300 members gathered to break ground—literally pushing a plow through a field of weeds as a symbol of faith and new beginnings. Just weeks later, on May 28, 1964, trailers were installed on the property to host worship services while the church building was being constructed.

Christ Lutheran Church & School continued to grow, opening a preschool in 1972 and expanding with the addition of an elementary school in 1980.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the foundation for all we believe and teach.
  • There is one true God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
  • Jesus Christ is true God and true man, who lived, died, and rose again for the forgiveness of sins
  • We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ Alone - not by our works
  • The Holy Spirit creates and sustains faith through God's Word and Sacraments
  • Baptism and the Lord's Supper are gifts of God's grace, through which He strengthens our faith
  • The church is the community of believers, called to live out our faith in worship, service, and daily life

Christ Lutheran Church is part of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS)

The History of Christ Lutheran CHurch & School

Our Beginning
In the fall of 1960, six families began the journey of forming a mission congregation in the Brea/Fullerton area. The first service of Christ Lutheran Church was held on March 6, 1961, at the Wilson School of Dance on the corner of Catalpa Avenue and Oleander Street in Brea.

Growth & Expansion
Christ Lutheran Church continued to grow in both ministry and outreach. In 1972, a preschool was established to serve young families in the community.

In 1980, the ministry expanded further with the opening of the elementary school, creating opportunities to partner with families in the Christian education of their children.

Through the years, the church and school have continued to grow together, serving the Brea community and surrounding areas.
Christ Brea Today
Today, Christ Lutheran Church & School continues to serve as a place where people can grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and live out their calling in Christ.

With worship services, education, and community opportunities for all ages, the ministry remains rooted in its mission to share the Gospel and support individuals and families in their walk of faith.
