“Who do you say that I am?”

Peter responds:

And Jesus declares, “On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

But Jesus’ promise doesn't call His Church into a bunker.

🚪 Gates are defensive.
⛪ Christ's Church is being sent out.
🔥 Even the gates of hell cannot withstand what Jesus is doing through His people.

And how does Christ's Church conquer?

Not the way the world does.

🌎 The world conquers by defeating its enemies.
❤️ The Church conquers by loving its enemies.
✝️ Jesus conquered by dying for His enemies—and rising again.

Being rooted on the Rock means trusting that Jesus is exactly who Peter confessed Him to be and then boldly following wherever He calls us.
